Last-Minute Easter Family Holidays
If you want to go away with the family at Easter but are at a loss as to where to go then check out a few of my ideas for inspiration.
Finca de Arrieta
LANZAROTE — Lanzarote Retreats is a family run business. They own a funky and laid-back eco resort, Finca de Arrieta, which is located in the northern part of the island away from the really touristy areas. It is an ideal place for families as it is close to a beach and the on-site facilities for children are excellent. The same company also own various tastefully decorated villas and apartments around the island.
Ammos Hotel
CRETE — Ammos Hotel near Chania is a reasonably priced stylish and family friendly boutique hotel with a very attentive owner who will go out of his way to ensure you have a pleasant stay. The hotel is right on the beach and a short bus/taxi ride away from the beautiful and vibrant town of Chania. Crete is really lovely in April. The weather can be quite warm and the towns, although buzzing, are not busy and overcrowded as in the summer.
SPAIN— The colourful city of Barcelona is really worth a visit in spring. Use airbnb or i-escape to find some great stylish and quirky accommodation right in the heart of the city. Travel up the coast to the heart of the Emporda region and discover the hidden treasures of the Costa Brava. Stay at the family run Casa Migdia or the boutique hotel Can Bassa. Or if island life is your thing then visit one of the Balearic Islands and stay in an off season villa booked through Vintage Travel
CORNWALL — Rent a cottage near the picturesque town of Fowey. Beautiful beaches, country walks and good Cornish food will be on your doorstep. Use Owners Direct to find your holiday rental.
Bovey Castle
DEVON — Stay at the magnificent Bovey Castle on the edge of the beautiful Dartmoor National Park. This grand Edwardian spa hotel has acres and acres of grounds which the kids will happily explore all day long. Dartmoor has a great deal to offer the family from beautiful walks to quaint little villages to fantastic pub food. It’s really special.
