My Top 5 City Breaks in June
June is a great month to take a city break in Europe. The weather is lovely and warm, the summer hoardes have not yet arrived, kids haven’t broken for the summer holidays and therefore flights are more reasonably priced. If you are able to take a break in June then do it! I prefer smaller cities as they are more chilled out and are easy to explore on foot.
PALMA DE MALLORCA
Palma is a really beautiful and cosmopolitan place with a buzzy and magical old town. It really does have a great deal to offer and really is worth visiting if you haven’t done so yet.
STAY at the boutique hotel Palau Sa Font in the heart of Palma’s historic quarter or Hotel San Lorenzo located in the San Pere district.
PORTO
The lesser known northern Portuguese town of Porto is the perfect place for a city break in June. It is vibrant, hugely creative and buzzy and there is no shortage of hip hotels, funky bars, restaurants and home-grown designer shops.
STAY at the six suite hotel Rosa et Al Townhouse located in the artsy and funky area of Porto or the centrally located Pensao Favorita, a converted townhouse with lovely simple rooms, a garden and a restaurant.
SAN SEBASTIEN
If amazing food and scenery is your thing then you will not be disappointed by the northern Spanish town of San Sebastian.
STAY at the grand Hotel Villa Soro, a short walk from Zurriola Beach and the old town or the funky Okako Hotel located in the centre of San Sebastian.
MONTPELLIER
An underrated French town with a lot of soul and a gorgeous and vibrant old town. A perfect place to just chill out in a cafe and watch the world go by.
Stay at the Best Western Hotel Le Guilhem and ask for the basement room with its own private garden. Or stay at Baudon de Mauny, a lovely chateau in the heart of the city.
COPENHAGEN
If style and design is your thing then you will be in heaven in the beautiful town of Copenhagen.
STAY at Axel Hotel Guldsmeden or at the Bertram Hotel Guldsmeden. There is also an amazing selection of Airbnbs in Copenhagen.

I have been to Palma! Never been to the others yet though. Maybe soon
